  • Dr. Lauren Grilley
    DVM

Dr. Lauren Grilley grew up in a small town in West Texas.  She knew from early childhood that she wanted to work with animals and was constantly outside exploring nature and learning about wildlife.  Therefore, at seventeen she began working toward becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician at Midland College.  She was then able to use her degree in Veterinary Technology in order to work full time while continuing her education and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Indiana University in 2006.  In addition to pursing her educational and career goals, Dr. Grilley wanted to see the world and was elated when she learned that she had been accepted to study Veterinary Medicine in Scotland at the University of Glasgow’s internationally accredited program.  While living and studying abroad, Dr. Grilley’s academic achievements led her to volunteer her veterinary skills to areas with little access to veterinary care, which included working in remote areas of England, Greece, Mexico, and India.  Following all of this hard work and study, she earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine with commendation and membership in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons from the University of Glasgow in 2011.  She then returned to the United States where she continued to expand her veterinary knowledge by completing a rotating internship at South Texas Veterinary Specialists in San Antonio, a surgical and emergency internship at New York Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, and a surgical internship at Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center.  Dr. Grilley finally settled back in San Antonio and took a permanent position at Affordable Pet Care in 2018.  She is enjoying being closer to friends and family while still striving to provide the highest level of care to her animal patients.  She has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, pain management, skin care, and diagnostic imaging.
