Conditions Treated at A Pet's Choice Veterinary Care

.

Some illnesses and injuries can't be prevented, and emergency pet care is necessary. Our San Antonio veterinarians use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to diagnose and treat your cat or dog at regularly scheduled appointments and during urgent care situations. Our staff at A Pet's Choice Veterinary Care wants you to know all of the conditions that we treat at our office.

Pet Diagnostics

Our office has several diagnostic tools that are ideal for emergency pet care such as digital radiography that can help diagnose bone fractures, arthritis, and foreign bodies such when a cat or dog swallows something that causes an intestinal blockage. Additionally, this type of radiography can find bladder stones, and liver, kidney, and heart disease.

Another diagnostic instrument our veterinarians can use to diagnose and treat certain illnesses is through cytology and chemistry analysis that includes a complete blood count and oxygen levels. For example, a combination of blood and oxygen tests can lead to a fast diagnose of diabetes and treatment that will keep your pet healthy with regular care and checkups. Our on-site lab can test samples immediately, improving the diagnosis and treatment timetable, which can be critical in urgent care situations.

Ultrasonography services are also available. The 3-D ultrasound machine can evaluate your pet's abdominal organs to detect and allow a diagnose for cysts, tumors, abnormal lymph nodes, and abdominal masses that could indicate cancer. Also, the diagnostic tool can detect pregnancy.

These are all conditions our San Antonio office, and veterinarians are equipped to treat.

Internal Pet Medicine

There are many conditions we can diagnose and treat on-site that won't require you to take your beloved pet to a specialist. As explained, our advanced diagnostic tools and highly trained staff can treat:

  • Low and high functioning thyroid disease management
  • Acute and chronic Cushing's disease
  • Addison's disease
  • Reproductive issues
  • Skin allergies and infections
  • Liver disease
  • Congestive heart failure

Our veterinary staff can also help manage inflammatory bowel disease and pregnancy.

Pet Dental Care

Dental care is a vital part of your cat or dogs health. Without regular maintenance, tooth decay and disease can develop. Emergency pet care can also include dental conditions such as broken teeth that are causing difficulties eating and weight loss, especially in older cats and dogs with more specific nutritional needs. Our vets can administer anesthesia and exam your pet's mouth, clean and pull teeth when necessary.
